(Could be a great chemo hat)

Bulky Machine with ribber;  3/12 cone yarn for MY (main yarn)

Machine pitch; H3 – Tension 0/0

  • In Full Needle Rib (FNR), pull out 36 needles on both main and ribber beds
  • With WY (waste yarn) do zig zag row R to L
  • Hang comb and weights
  • K 1 row to R
  • Move stitches into a 4 by 4 configuration:
    • move first 4 ribber sts on the left to double up the first 4 main bed stitches,
    • then move the next 4 sts on the main bed to the ribber, doubling those 4 sts on the ribber, etc. across the bed
    • The configuration begins and ends with 4 sts doubled on the main bed
  • Continue to knit another 9 or 10 rows of WY – ending with carriage on right (COR)
  • Cut WY and add MY and begin knitting
  • After approx. 25 rows, add 2 claw type weight hangers (long, skinny, silver piece with hole in bottom) to each side of the work and hang small ribber weights in them
  • Move them up every 10 rows
  • After approx. 50 rows or so, remove the heavy ribber weights from the comb. Hang a triangle comb on the work and hang one heavy ribber weight in the center of it – keeping original ribber comb (without weights) at the bottom of the work for weight. As it reaches the floor, roll work up around comb and clamp
  • Knit to row count 250 – end with COR
  • Change to WY
  • K 10 rows and remove from machine
