Standard Gauge Machine

Yarn – 3 ply; T 5 or 6 depending on yarn

Sizes: 0 – 3 months (3-6 Months)

  • Cuff:
  • RC 000; Ribbing – Main T-1 or 2
  • CO 34 in 1 X 1 rib (17 L X 18 R (38); Broken Toe CO; 2 circular R
  • K 30 (30) rows rib
  • Transfer sts to main bed
  • Remove ribber comb and weights and re-weight with claw weights
  • Ankle:
  • RC 000
  • Using MT; K 16 rows. (For 2nd sock you will knit 1 less R to end on opposite side)
  • Heel:
  • Set carriage to Hold
  • Pull sts 0 to 17 (19)  on opposite side of carriage  to Hold (E)
  • Short row by placing 1 st next to carriage in hold each row until 6 (6) sts remain in work; move claw weights frequently under the short rowing
  • Short row back by putting 1 st opposite the carriage back in work each row and wrapping N on carriage side until all sts are back in work*
  • *Just before putting last N (that is in hold) back into work – hang a heel of the edge stich below to close that gap from elongated stitches
  • Remove Hold setting
  • K 15 R (15)
  • Toe:
  • Pull N 0 to 17 (19) sts (on opposite side of heel instructions) to Hold
  • Short row down to 5 (5) sts
  • Short row back as before till all N are in work*
  • *Just before putting last N (that is in hold) back into work – hang a heel of the edge stich below to close that gap from elongated stitches
  • Remove Hold setting
  • K 1 R over all sts
  • Cut MY and leave long tail
  • Take work off on several rows of WY
  • Seaming:
  • Mattress st ribbing about ½ way down wrong sides together
  • Turn right side out and mattress st rest of ribbing and sock
  • Kitchener st toe
