Sit around shrug

Standard gauge machine

3 strands 2/24 yarn or 1 strand of  3/15

 

  • Cast on every other needle for main bed (100L X99 R); ribber 99L X 98R
  • Tension 1 -Broken Toe cast on
  • Tension 6 – Knit 20 rows ribbing; all stitches onto main bed
  • Tension 9 – Knit 300 or 301 rows in stockinet – (end carriage on the left if right handed for the bind off)
  • Every other stitch to ribber
  • Tension 6 –Knit 20 rows of ribbing; all stitches to main bed
  • Back stitch bind off

Make 2 of these pieces

Make up into shrug:

Right sides together with the ribbing at the top and bottom – stitch along plain edge. Now bring ribs and sides, right sides together, at the bottom and stitch up 10 inches on each side to make sleeves. Press lightly – leaving plain edge with a bit of a roll at the sleeve edge. Or edge could be finished with crochet. Weave in ends.
