  • Machine: Standard with ribber
  • Yarn: light 3 ply
  • Tension: 7
  • Gauge: 6 stitches and 14 rows = 1 inch
  • Size: XL (46 inch bust)

BACK:

  • RC 000; Rack H5; pull out 150 N’s on both beds to make a double bed stockinette band
  • T: 0/0; zig zag R; comb and weights; set carriage to knit circular
  • Tension: 1/1; K 2 R; T: 3/3; K 2 R; T: 5/5; K 2 R; T: 6/6; K to RC 17
  • Move rib sts to MB, doubling sts; remove circular settings
  • K 1 R
  • RC 000; T: 7
  • Set machine to do a Mock Seed Stitch*
  • K 16 R
  • Remove patterning and K 1 R
  • Remove work onto a garter bar; turn work and rehang
  • K 2 R
  • Remove work onto a garter bar; turn work and rehang
  • K 1 R
  • Set machine to do lace; I used Brother electronic #111; Set Selector 2 for motifs; set to do 9 repeats
  • K 26 R (on electronic counter not row counter) lace ending with K 2; then K 2 more R’s
  • Remove work onto a garter bar; turn work and rehang
  • K 2 R
  • Remove work onto a garter bar; turn work and rehang
  • K 2 R
  • Set machine for the Mock Seed Stitch again
  • RC 000; K 220 R to under arm
  • Remove 6 Sts; K 1 R; Remove 6 sts
  • RC 000; K 118 R; remove patterning; K 1 R
  • Put all sts to hold except 40 sts for shoulder
  • Remove those 40 onto WY
  • Remove other 40 shoulder sts onto WY
  • COL; Loosest tension possible; K 1 R over remaining sts
  • Loop through a loop bind off

FRONTS: Make 2

  • RC 000; Rack H5; pull out 56 N’s on both beds to make a double bed stockinette band
  • T: 0/0; zig zag R; comb and weights; set carriage to knit circular
  • Tension: 1/1; K 2 R; T: 3/3; K 2 R; T: 5/5; K 2 R; T: 6/6; K to RC 17
  • Move rib sts to MB, doubling sts; remove circular settings
  • K 1 R
  • RC 000; T: 7
  • Set machine to do a Mock Seed Stitch*
  • K 16 R
  • Remove patterning and K 1 R
  • Remove work onto a garter bar; turn work and rehang
  • K 2 R
  • Remove work onto a garter bar; turn work and rehang
  • K 1 R
  • Set machine to do lace; I used Brother electronic #111; Set Selector 2 for motifs; set to do 3 repeats

  • RC 000; K 220 R to under arm/221 for 2nd front
  • Remove 6 Sts on carriage side
  • RC 000
  • K 100 R decreasing at center front as follows: Dec 1 st every 10 row 10 times; use a 2-prong tool
  • Continue straight by K 19 R to RC 119; remove patterning; K 1 R
  • Remove 40 sts onto WY
  • Repeat for second front, reversing shaping

SLEEVES: Make 2

  • RC 000; Rack H5; pull out 56 N’s on both beds to make a double bed stockinette band
  • T: 0/0; zig zag R; comb and weights; set carriage to knit circular
  • Tension: 1/1; K 2 R; T: 3/3; K 2 R; T: 5/5; K 2 R; T: 6/6; K to RC 17
  • Move rib sts to MB, doubling sts; remove circular settings
  • K 1 R
  • RC 000; T: 7
  • Set machine to do a Mock Seed Stitch*
  • K 28 R; RC 000
  • Using a 2-prong tool, begin increasing as follows over next 224 R:
    • Inc 1 st at each end of every 7th row 8 times; then every 8th row 21 times
  • End COL; Remove patterning; Bring up ribber and same # of N’s as MB; T; 4/4; K 1 R; Drop sts off ribber – makes a large stitch
  • Loop through a loop bind off

NECK BAND:

  • Rack H5; Tension 4: Cast on FNR over 10 L X 10 R on the MB and 11L X 10 R on the ribber (edge N’s on the ribber)
  • Tension: 0/0; Zig Zag Row; comb and weights
  • Move second N in from the right end on the ribber up to the MB ( N #9R -gives a nicer edge)
  • Push that 1 ribber N out of work
  • Set carriage to circular knit; K 2 R; remove settings
  • RC 000; Set for Mock Seed Stitch on MB for FNR Tuck band
  • Tension 4/4; K 817R; COR
  • Remove settings; K 1 plain R
  • Move all rib sts up to MB
  • End COL; tension as loose as possible; K 1 R or K 1 R by hand and make large stitches
  • Loop through a loop bind off

MAKE UP:

  • Block pieces
  • Hang one back shoulder on N’s with right side facing you
  • Hang corresponding front shoulder onto same N’s with purl side facing you
  • Bind off and repeat for other shoulder
  • Center sleeves on shoulders and mattress st on
  • Mattress st sides and under arms
  • Divide neckband piece in half and place center at center back neck; Make sure the side that has the ribber st moved is to the outside of the band
  • Sew neckband to neck and inner front edges
  • Weave in ends

 

*Mock Seed Stitch:

  • If using a punch card: Insert card#1, locked; COL; Knit 1 R from left to right. Set pattern to elongate; push in the left tuck button only; release the card

 

  • On Brother electronic 940: I used stitch # 256, elongated; push in left tuck button only
