Beading on Knitting Machine with Wire

Beading can be done with a beading tool that resembles a tiny latch hook tool or if that is unavailable use following method:

To add a bead or round button to knitting:

  • Take stitch off machine (that is to hold the button/bead) with a 1 prong tool
  • P 1
  • Thread a single strand of thin, bendable wire through that stitch
  • P2
  • Bend wire shut, matching ends
  • Thread bead onto doubled wire and push bead onto the stitch
  • P3
  • Pull wire so stitch pops out the end
  • Put 1 prong tool through stitch sticking out the bottom of the bead
  • P4
  • Rehang that stitch onto needle
  • Carefully run carriage by, straightening bead if needed
  • P6
