Vertical Striped Ribbing

Sample piece of ribbing
  • Ribbing is created by tucking both ways on the MB for 2 R; then tucking both ways on the ribber for 2 R; the opposite bed knits plain every 2 R’s
  • Main color is alternated on either side

  • Bulky or standard with ribber
  • Double bed color changer
  • Fine knit bar

Yarn: Match the machine

  • Standard: 2 colors 3 ply yarn
  • Bulky: 2 colors light 4 ply

  • Standard: 2/2 (*unless for whole hat or garment, then a looser tension is desired)

Ribbing is much less elastic, so less sts are required due to less elasticity in band if fitting a head; sts may need to be added to hat body

  • Tension; 0/0; CO the number of sts required in a 1 X 1 pattern with MB and ribber with C#1 (color # 1)
  • Zig Zag; Comb; Lots of ribber weights for tuck
  • 2 circular R’s
  • Tension: 2/2 for standard*
  • *C#2; push in both tuck buttons on the MB carriage
  • K 2 R
  • C#1; release MB carriage buttons; push up all 3 levers on ribber from N to PR and R to P
  • K 2 R; release ribber carriage settings*
  • Repeat * to * for desired length of ribbing
